ACCREDITATION
COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION OF AMBULANCE SERVICES
Vital Link is one of seven nationally accredited ambulance services based in the state of Arkansas. On October 8, 2003, the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) awarded Vital Link its first three-year accreditation, which it continues to hold today. To achieve and maintain accreditation, Vital Link must meet and continue to meet more than 155 standards of excellence established by experts in the emergency medical services industry.
Accreditation is a process that requires several steps. First, all operations adhere to CAAS accreditation standards. Second, Vital Link submits a detailed application, demonstrating the ways the organization has, does, and will continue to meet the commission's high standards. Third, EMS experts - including nationally certified paramedics - perform a site visit where they inspect every aspect of Vital Link's operations, and gather evidence. And the last step... the CAAS Panel of Commissioners review the original application, the site visit report, all additional information provided, and choose to award accreditation to Vital Link. Every three years.
